CHICAGO
CHICAGO has everything that makes a musical great; murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation adultery, treachery, and all that jazz; and one show-stopping-song after another.
No wonder CHICAGO has been honored with 6 Tony Awards, 2 Olivier Awards, a Grammy and thousands of standing ovations. It's also no surprise that CHICAGO has wowed audiences all around the world, from Mexico City to Moscow, from Sao Paulo to South Africa. And now you can see it in Marin!
# Did you know that CHICAGO has been performed in English, Dutch, German, Swedish, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Italian and French?
Chicago is a Kander and Ebb musical set in prohibition era Chicago. The music is by John Kander with lyrics by Fred Ebb and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. The story is a satire on corruption in the administration of criminal justice, and the concept of the "celebrity criminal." The musical is based on a 1926 play of the same name by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins about actual criminals and crimes she had reported on.
